King Edward VII College Refurbishment

Theatre Refurbishment Project  

The theatre at King Edward VII Science and Sport College in Coalville, Leicestershire is a well-utilised multipurpose facility. It’s used throughout the year for school productions and training sessions, and is available for hire by external theatre companies and dance schools at evenings and weekends.  

The original seating was supplied and installed by Audience Systems in 2003. Although still in reasonably good condition, 14 years of service had taken its toll, and overall the theatre was starting to show signs of wear and tear.   As part of an overhaul of the theatre in 2017, the college spoke to several seating suppliers, comparing design, durability and cost, and came back to Audience Systems to give the theatre a brand new look.  

The seating replacement was carried out by our aftersales department, who also specialise in refurbishment projects – whether chairs need to be reupholstered or completely replaced. In this case, the fully upholstered seats were replaced with smart new Accolade chairs in a calm, contemporary colour scheme. The Accolade chairs feature wrap around plastic panels to the rear, which prolong the life of the upholstery. The college also freshened up carpets the theatre’s walls and carpets, and the finished result looks fantastic.
