Paisley Town Hall
Paisley, UK549 seats
The Town Hall in Paisley was a gifted to the town by a local mill owner in 1882. With its grand façade and distinctive clock tower, it has been a landmark in the town ever since.
The seating was installed as part of a transformation lead by architects Holmes Miller. The redesign was intended to bring unused spaces in the building to life, as well as creating a state-of-the art performance venue in the main hall. The hall will be multifunctional, and is also available for hire for weddings and events.
The auditorium is fitted throughout with Audience Systems’ Recital chairs, upholstered in a plush red fabric with timber details specially stained to match the auditorium floor. Ideal for this heritage venue, Recital is equally at home as a traditional theatre chair or on retractable platforms. Underneath the balcony, the chairs sit on a “travelling” retractable unit, which after being closed away, can be driven under power in and out of its storage location. There are matching Recital chairs on the balconies, six of which have hinged armrests to improve accessibility.
Architect Steven Coulson said, “I am pleased with the appearance, finish customisation and overall versatility of the Recital seating supplied by Audience Systems.”
