Lister Community School

Newham, London, UK360 seats

The main hall at Lister School is a light, bright multipurpose space, and our installation of retractable and stacking seating adds even more flexibility.

It was a challenging space to design for, with a low ceiling at one end, which limits the height of any retractable seating system. Our solution is a “TXD” system, which has two rows of Accolade chairs per platform. This allows the school to achieve a decent capacity of 176 on the retractable system.

This is a "travelling" retractable system - ideal for this long room. The operator can position the seating unit by driving it forwards or backwards with a controller. The auditorium can therefore be varied in size, from spacious to intimate. The rear of the retractable unit is clad with attractive timber panels and matching panels can be added to the sides of the seating bank once it's open. As well as looking smart, the panels keep out dirt and curious intruders!

An additional 184 matching “Venue” chairs complete with purpose-built stacking trolleys complete the auditorium, bringing the total capacity up to 360.
