Holy Cross College

Holy Cross College and University Centre is based in beautiful premises near the centre of Bury, Lancashire.

Towards the end of 2016, Audience Systems designed, manufactured and installed a retractable seating in the college’s main hall, complete with 256 Accolade chairs. A flexible system, the seating can be opened so that 3 rows, 6 rows, or the full 12 rows of seating can be used.

The college takes enormous pride in the quality of its facilities, and a few touches give this system its crisp, clean aesthetic – including smart perforated steel rails, modern stair nosings, and oak finish fascias to disguise the platforms when closed.

The Accolade chairs, popular with schools, include wrap-around plastic panels for the backrests, which significantly increase the life of the upholstery.

Just over a year later, we were back to supply a 159 seat bench seating system for the school’s drama studio.

This system was specified with an extra-deep rear row to accommodate a sound & lighting control desk. Stacking chairs provide an extra row of seating on this rear row when the control desk isn’t in use.

Both systems supplied are motorised, and are opened and closed using a control pendant to allow the spaces to be transformed quickly and easily.
