Balcony Seating Refurbishment Dot icon 416 Seats

This refurbishment of the balcony seating at Birmingham’s Grade I listed town hall brings new life to seats first installed by Audience Systems in 2005.

After 20 years’ service, the seat frames, armposts and armrests of the Espace chairs were still in very good condition. However, as is inevitable after so many performances, the seat and back foams were starting to thin, and the fabric was becoming worn.

Audience Systems’ aftersales team gave the seating a fresh look and a new lease of life by replacing just the seats and backs.  This approach reduces both spend and environmental impact compared to all-new seating, with the most carbon-heavy elements of the chairs (the steel frames) retained.

Nick Loveland, Chief Operating Officer at Birmingham Town Hall said,

“Thank you for delivering to us such a smart new set of seats in Town Hall. I know this wasn’t the easiest project to deliver – at the start I kept changing my mind and then the logistics of removing, replacing and delivering so many seats in a building that is a bit of an island site in the middle  of the City really hit home – but we did it – so thank you very much, and please pass on my thanks to the onsite team who were absolutely fabulous and just got on with things to deliver a fantastic outcome.”
